This year, SuS Pads proudly announces its strategic partnership with COULDYOU? Cup to advance menstrual equity in Nigeria through a transformative International Day of the Girl Child initiative at a marginalised school in Akwanga, Nasarawa State. As a sustainable menstrual pad organisation committed to eradicating period poverty, we are thrilled to collaborate with COULDYOU? Cup, a US-manufactured medical-grade silicone menstrual cup designed for 10 years of durability with proper care. Together, we aim to provide 12-hour leak-proof protection while addressing systemic barriers to menstrual health education and product access.

The program will integrate comprehensive menstrual health workshops led by certified healthcare professionals, covering critical topics such as menstrual cycle biology, hygiene best practices, identifying irregularities requiring medical attention, and evidence-based guidance on managing discomfort during menstruation. Participants will gain clarity on common concerns through interactive Q&A sessions addressing self-care techniques, reproductive health myths, and culturally sensitive strategies for navigating societal stigmas. A core focus will be hands-on training for proper menstrual cup usage, including sterilisation protocols, insertion/removal techniques, and maintenance practices to ensure safe adoption of this eco-friendly alternative to disposable pads.

COULDYOU? Cup’s innovative design not only reduces environmental waste but also empowers girls to pursue education uninterrupted by menstrual challenges. Each cup’s 10-year lifespan directly combats period poverty by offering long-term affordability, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals on gender equality and responsible consumption. During the event, every attendee will receive a free COULDYOU? Cup alongside illustrated instructional materials.

To dismantle harmful taboos, the initiative will host open dialogues challenging misconceptions about menstruation as “unclean” or shameful. Facilitators will emphasise menstrual health as a natural biological process deserving dignity, leveraging storytelling sessions where we share empowerment journeys. By normalising conversations around reproductive health, we aim to foster generational mindset shifts that reduce school absenteeism and boost female confidence.
