The Project

To commemorate Menstrual Hygiene Day 2023, Hope Spring Water Charity, SuS Pads, and Centre for Adolescent and Social Development have partnered to host a menstrual hygiene and reusable pad training workshop at Jss Kabusa, Abuja. The primary objective of this initiative is to provide young girls with the necessary tools to manage their menstrual hygiene in a cost-effective and sustainable manner.

Project Impact

The workshop aimed to educate attendees on menstruation and menstrual hygiene while offering hands-on training on creating reusable sanitary pads. With the support of experienced professionals and skilled teachers, participants learned how to craft high-quality, washable, and reusable pads, reducing their reliance on disposable options. This not only promotes financial savings but also contributes to a cleaner and healthier environment.

Dr. Fatima Abolanle Odusote, the director of the Centre for Adolescent and Social Development, emphasized the importance of destigmatizing menstruation and improving menstrual health and well-being. By increasing awareness and providing access to education and resources, women can better manage their periods and overcome the barriers that often hinder them from fully participating in daily activities.

Project Sustainability

The success of this initiative was made possible through the generous support of Hope Spring Ecard, a charitable eCard platform that enables people to send greetings to their loved ones while contributing to meaningful causes. Their support played a vital role in providing essential resources to those who might not have had access to them otherwise.

Bolu Olorunfemi, SuS Pads founder, highlighted the significance of menstrual hygiene management in preserving women’s health and well-being. By opting for reusable pads, women not only save money but also contribute to a more sustainable environment. This approach addresses the issue of menstrual waste disposal while promoting a healthier lifestyle.

In conclusion, we invite all supporters of menstrual hygiene education and period poverty alleviation to join us in our mission. By working together, we can empower young women worldwide to take charge of their health and well-being, fostering a more inclusive and sustainable future.
