On May 28, SuS Pads, in partnership with the Blessings Foundation, organized a significant event at Government Secondary School Akwanga South, Nasarawa State, in celebration of Menstrual Hygiene Day. This initiative aimed to educate young girls about menstrual health and hygiene while fostering a community of informed and empowered individuals. The event commenced at 10 AM, featuring a well-structured program designed to engage students and address essential topics related to menstrual health.
Project Impact
The event successfully reached a diverse group of young girls, providing them with vital information on maintaining health during menstruation. Educational sessions covered practical hygiene practices, the importance of body image, and the benefits of using reusable pads. A health worker facilitated discussions, answering questions and offering expert recommendations. The interactive nature of the event encouraged participation, leading to increased awareness and understanding of menstrual health among the students.
Feedback from the Vice Principal highlighted the event’s significance as the first of its kind at the school, expressing gratitude for the initiative. Participants received menstrual kit bags containing SuS Pads reusable pads, soap, a period tracker/hygiene guide, pen and motivational placards, ensuring they left with valuable resources and knowledge.

Project Sustainability
To ensure the long-term impact of this initiative, the project emphasized education and practical skills. Students were taught how to sew their own reusable pads, promoting self-sufficiency and sustainability. The introduction of period trackers empowered participants to monitor their menstrual cycles effectively, fostering a sense of ownership over their health. By providing essential supplies and resources, the project aimed to instill confidence and encourage ongoing discussions about menstrual health within the community.
